"Marriage' is a song I wrote a few years back but just recorded in the midst of all this postal vote turmoil. It has been pretty messed up being the subject of a government sponsored "debate" about whether my boyfriend Ben and I (and every other queer person) should have the same rights as straight couples. Of course we're going to feel a bit conflicted about a club we've never been allowed to join, and the song expresses that, but hopefully it also expresses some of how it feels to love someone deeply, to share your life with them for more than 20 years and to still be waiting to be deemed equal.
